First Baptist Church of Murphy is here to change lives through the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel is this: Jesus died for our sins and raised to life three days later.
In 2008 our church will be moving to our new 10.5 acre location at the intersection of North Murphy Road and McMillan Drive. We believe we will be better equipped in the future to serve both God and Murphy.
We are a God-centered church. Our goal, first and foremost, is to know and love God. We seek to bring others into the same relationship we have with God.
We are committed to the Bible, our sacred Scriptures. We believe the Bible to be the only inspired Word of God. It is without any error in its content.
God is glorified through changed lives. A changed life is the result of a person placing his or her faith in Jesus Christ as his or her Savior and Lord. This changed life is both instant and gradual. The moment a person is saved (salvation) or re-born an instant change takes place. This begins the process of change. The rest of the Christian life is a series of changes (sanctification) that makes a person more like Jesus.
We are committed to the Great Commission. We are to take the gospel every corner of Murphy, Collin County, Texas, the United States and to every country of the world.
We strongly believe that the role of the pastor and the pastoral staff is to train the members for the work of ministry. The result is that the members of the church will be mature in their relationships with God and with others and will be known for their unity.
Service is an essential part of worship. Each member working together, each doing their own part, strengthens the whole and brings glory to God. We expect every member to have a place of ministry inside the church (teaching, ministry, serving)or outside the church body (evangelism, ministry, missions).
