Ten years ago, a member of FBC Murphy had a vision of our historic 100 year old church building on a beautiful ten acre parcel in north Murphy. He shared the idea with anyone who would listen. “Imagine our church in a country park-like setting with trees and lots of room to grow,” he would say. As God would have it, this property became available in 2003 and our church was prayerfully moved to buy it. A generous individual loaned us money for the purchase, and God has provided the means for us to pay for it.
Three years ago, we received an offer to purchase the half acre we now occupy with the provision that we could take our church building with us. A team was assembled to determine the cost of the move, and we were able to locate an architect with a passion for restoring old buildings. After a series of setbacks, the land sale was finalized earlier this year, providing us almost exactly the amount needed to move our building and complete the initial phase of our project!
Our new home is a peaceful country setting with scattered trees and a meandering creek, providing lots of room for outdoor activities and growth. Phase I construction will include renovating and enlarging our building, parking for approximately 100 vehicles and a beautifully landscaped play area for our children.
We are excited about our future at the corner of North Murphy Road and McMillen Road. It is amazing to see this ten year old vision coming to fruition. Come visit us as we serve God and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
